Inspection checklist
- Separate the functions
- Identify the installed equipment
- Arrange authorized access
When an intercom problem affects one apartment, knowing which functions still work helps define the inspection. A building-wide outage calls for a different starting point.
Use these points to understand the opening or system before choosing parts or approving a larger replacement.
Call or send photos with your ZIP code. We review the visible condition, confirm the service area and schedule an on-site estimate when measurements or equipment identification are required. On site, we verify dimensions, identify compatible parts and explain the work before the customer approves a repair or installation.
Describe calling, incoming audio, outgoing audio, video and door release individually. A station may ring while one other function fails. Note whether the issue is constant or intermittent and whether another apartment is affected.
Photograph the lobby panel, apartment station and readable labels with permission. Systems can use different wiring and equipment, so a modern-looking station is not automatically a compatible replacement.
A diagnosis may need access to the affected apartment and shared equipment. Coordinate with building management and list the available access window. Avoid making changes to shared wiring; a repair for one unit should not disrupt other residents.
Not necessarily. The station, connection or a unit-specific circuit may be involved; the system should be assessed.
No. The replacement must be compatible with the installed system and wiring.
List which functions fail, which still work, whether other apartments are affected and how equipment access will be arranged.
