An apartment lock does not administer the shared lobby
For smart-lock installation in Morningside Heights, distinguish the private apartment opening from the common building entrance. The apartment owner or authorized resident manages the selected lock’s supported users; a shared lobby may require management-controlled credentials and a separate access system. Confirm the opening, building permission and administrator before choosing the product or changing permanent door preparation.
Coordinate approval and administrator handover
For a Morningside Heights apartment or managed property, confirm who can approve hardware changes and who will own the smart-lock account. We review the door preparation and selected model before installation. Where residents change, discuss the supported process for removing old users and transferring administration.
Can the administrator account be transferred when occupancy changes?
The procedure depends on the manufacturer and account arrangement. Establish customer ownership at installation and review the supported transfer or reset process so future access changes are manageable.
