An apartment intercom that does not ring should be checked in two ways: the affected unit and the whole building. If one apartment does not ring while other apartments work, the problem may be the station, programming, button, wiring to that unit or a tenant-specific setting. If every apartment is silent, shared equipment is more likely.

Start with a simple test. Have someone press the outdoor button while the occupant listens inside. Try the same panel for another unit if permitted. Note whether the button lights, beeps or feels stuck. If the system uses a phone app, check whether notifications are enabled and whether the app is logged into the correct account.

For older systems, labels and buttons matter. A directory button can call the wrong unit if labeling or wiring was changed. A loose or worn button may only work when pressed at a certain angle. For newer systems, user setup, internet connection or subscription status may affect call routing. These are different fixes, so the equipment type should be identified.

Send the ZIP code, number of units, photos of the outdoor panel and a description of which units are affected. 770 Doors & Windows can inspect apartment intercom ringing problems and explain whether the issue points to station repair, panel repair, wiring, programming or replacement.
